DORIS ALAMAE WILSON HARRIS, born in Vinegar Bend, AL and former resident of Birmingham, AL, passed away in Fairhope, AL Friday, October 4, 2019 at the age of 99. Doris was a licensed minister with the Church of God in Cleveland, TN and retired as manager of Shoe City after over 25 years of service. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Oscar Wilson and Jessie Deese Wilson; her husband, Howard Harris; her daughter, Debra Renee Harris; her siblings, Ernest Wilson, Vera Moulds, Oscar Wilson, Juanita Lane, Ernestine Arnett, L. B. Wilson, Jessie Wilson and Robert Wilson. Her survivors include her daughter, Denise Harris; three sisters-in-law, Mary Wilson, Emma Joyce Kay and Ann Bandgren; a host of nieces; nephews; other relatives and many longtime friends. Special thanks are extended to her sitters, Tina, Pat, and Laura and the staff of Southern Care Hospice for their dedicated care and family support. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 10, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 1:00 PM from Johns-Ridout’s Southside Chapel, 2116 University Blvd., Birmingham, AL 35233. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham AL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doris’ name to Luke 418 Fellowship, Lee University in Cleveland, TN or your favorite ministry.
