Dorothy Marie White passed away peacefully on March 29, 2025 surrounded by her family. She was born in Auburn AL on October 10, 1940 to Marvin Cecil and Rebecca Elizabeth Padgett. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, James Harold White, two daughters, Patricia Hacker, and Suzan Williams (Johnny); grandchildren Melodi Hacker and James Hacker; Sister Patricia Carter; brother-in-law Willie Robison (Becky); nephews Michael Robison and Dane Carter; Niece Amy Robbins (Matt) as well as many other beloved extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Cecil Padgett and Rebecca Elizabeth Padgett and her sister-in-law Dorothy Carol Robison.
Dorothy was a founding member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was active on many committees and loved serving her church family. She loved to sing with her fellow members of Azalea City Harmony and was an active member for more than 50 years. Dorothy enjoyed working with plants and arranging flowers. She was a member of various local garden clubs over the years, became a Master Gardener and was an active member for over 20 years. In 2024 she was recognized for her years of service with the Mobile County Extension Legacy Award.
Dorothy's passion was cooking for family events. It was important to her that everyone had a special meal to celebrate their birthday and their favorite treat, cake or pie.
A Celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with the service beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Covenant Presbyterian Church children's ministry.
