Dorothy Kate Picker Ready, age 95, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of July 30, 2018 at The Haven of our Lady of Peace in Pensacola, FL. Dorothy was born in Chappatia, India and, as a young girl, moved with her family to Nottingham, England where she met and married the love of her life, Herman "Paul" Ready. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Picker and Kate Hill Picker; her husband, Herman Printis Ready; three sisters, Ivy Picker Wooley, Elsie Picker Huckaby, Rose Picker Pollard, and one brother, Ernest Picker. She is survived by her son, Mancel A. Ready; three daughters, Sandra Ready (John) Mathis, Pauline Ready (Bobby) Glen and Lynn Ready Warren; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild due in September; one brother, John (Joan) Picker; one sister, Betty Picker Sunderland; other relatives and extended family. A memorial service and celebration of Mrs. Ready's life will be held Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10:30 AM until service time. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Dorothy's memory to Covenant Health, Pensacola, FL.
