Dorothy McLemore Shuford December 7, 1926 thru September 1, 2015. Dorothy was known by friends, family and associates for her warm heart, kindness, and wisdom. Dorothy served in the civil services for the USAF at Brookley Field and Eglin Air Force base early in her career. Following her career with the civil service, Dorothy became an entrepreneur. Her business sense and tenacity made every venture of hers a success and. Dorothy's wisdom, character, and work ethic will continue to influence multiple generations within her family, and she will always be remembered for such. Following the passing of her husband Billy Joe Shuford September 19, 2000, Dorothy became the patriarch of the Shuford family. Dorothy has been there to offer words of wisdom, guidance, advice, and sometimes a good laugh to everyone she encountered. Dorothy has truly touched the lives of many and she will always be remembered.
Dorothy was born in Halsell, Alabama. Following the birth of their only son, John Allen Shuford, Dorothy and her husband Billy moved to Mobile, AL. Dorothy and Bill remained lifetime residents of Mobile since 1946. Dorothy is survived by her son John Allen Shuford and His wife Sharlee Simmons Shuford; her three grandsons, David Orion, Bryan Joseph, and Allen Foster Shuford, and great grandchildren; Olivia Nicole Shuford, Taylor McKenzie Shuford, Natalie Grace Shuford, and Jackson David Shuford. Dorothy has two surviving brothers, Edward McLemore a resident of Panama City, Florida and John L. McLemore (Jack), a resident of Jackson, Mississippi. Dorothy's sister Nell Isabell of Hampton, Virginia preceded her in death. Nell Isabel has two sons Kos Jackson of North Carolina and Keith Jackson of Virginia. Edward McLemore has three children; Edward Jr. McLemore of Massachusetts, Linda Messenger of Connecticut and Donald Hills of Massachusetts. John L McLemore (Jack) had two daughters, Jackie of Jackson, Mississippi. John L. McLemore's wife Alice P McLemore and Daughter Patricia Ann McLemore are both deceased. Funeral services will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2 PM.
