Dorothy (Dot) Elizabeth Thompson, 77, transitioned peacefully to eternal life on November 29, 2024. She passed in the comfort of her own home surrounded by family in Silverhill, Alabama. She was born November 1,1947 to Francis Edward Thompson and Dorothy Margaret Fischer. Born and raised in Mobile, Dorothy was a devout Catholic who carried a strong faith and special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Dorothy is a 1965 graduate of Bishop Toolen High School. She was raised with a tremendous sense of family; hence it was one of her most treasured assets. One of her most valued hobbies was genealogy, where she was a valued member of the Mobile Genealogical Society. She is preceded in death by her son, Christopher Matthew Russell. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Russell Anderson (Charles) of Silverhill, life-long stepdaughter, Cindy Russell-Crane (Clint) of Fairhope; two granddaughters, Taylor Elizabeth Grider (Eli), and Kaleigh Meschelle Anderson of Silverhill; as well as two great grandchildren, Emma Elizabeth and Everett Cole Grider. Services to honor Dorothy will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Grave side services will follow at noon at Pinecrest Cemetery in Mobile.
