Douglas Wilcox

September 26, 1944 — November 24, 2016

Douglas Nelson Wilcox born on September 26,1944. At age 72 Doug was called to his heavenly home on November 24,2016. Doug was a long time resident of Theodore Alabama. Douglas Wilcox is the son of Asa and Yvonne Wilcox. He is survived by his wife Jean Wilcox of 52 years. One daughter Julie Renea Smith(Daniel), One Son Douglas Edward Wilcox (Lydia) , six grandkids Briana Smith,Chelsea Smith, Chase Wilcox, Shelby Smith, Daniel Smith Jr. and Luke Wilcox. Many Aunts ,Uncles, cousins , nieces and nephews. Doug Wilcox was the oldest of 7 siblings. One brother James Wilcox (Dot), Five sisters , Joyce Schmidt (Mike), Dora Dickens (Clarence), Rachel Wilcox Tillman, Leah Wilcox Bennett, Mary Gwin (Tracy). Doug was a loving husband, Daddy and Papa. He was also a faithful member of Crosspoint Church. Although he will be missed by many, we can take comfort in knowing we'll see him again. Because ,if one thing was clear it is that his eternal home is with Jesus. No matter if you knew him from working with dump trucks and machinery, hunting and fishing, racing at the dirt track, riding horses or from church it was obvious the order of things in his life. Firstly, was his walk with Christ and on whom he would seek first for guidance concerning anything and was quick to let you know what the Word said about the situation you were going through. Secondly, would be his family and friends, which I list together because if you were fortunate enough to call him friend you can bet he considered you family and loved you as such. He was quick to offer his help on anything whether it be mechanical expertise, a cup of coffee or just an ear to listen. He loved to just be together with his kids and Grandkids on whom he bragged about to anyone who would listen. To him a loud, full house was a happy house. Lastly in his life was his work. Even compared with the others born in his generation he was considered a hard worker. Even at his "seasoned" age later in life he could out work most men half his age. He worked hard to keep his family well provided for. Doug left quite a legacy and we will continue to see the imprints of his works both physical and spiritual. So remember him as the last time you saw him because its guaranteed it was with a smile and more than likely a hug and a kiss. Until we see you again. WE LOVE YOU...
