Earl E. Loftin Jr., 88, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at his Fairmount, Indiana residence. Earl was born on September 24, 1928 in Souwilpa, Alabama, son of the late Earl E. Loftin Sr. and Mary Odis (Bonner) Loftin. He graduated from Silas High School in Souwilpa before traveling the world while in the Navy. He married Nancy Howell in January of 1950. She preceded him in death along with their infant daughter Angela in 1970. Earl and Patryce Gaddis were married on August 22, 1971. Earl lived in Mobile, Alabama for many years. While there he worked as a supervisor for 35 years at the International Paper Company. He retired in 1985. He attended the Cottage Hill Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #240 in Mobile. He was a member of the NRA and Sunnycrest Baptist Church in Marion, Indiana. Earl was a family man that loved babies and children. He enjoyed attending his children and grandchildren's sporting events and recitals. Earl was a great handyman. He loved repairing things, working on mowers and using those skills to help others. He was a coin collector and could answer just about any questions concerning gardening and rocks. Earl traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States. He loved fishing for flounder in the Gulf of Mexico. He referred to it as "floundering" . Earl will be missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Patryce. five children; Cynthia (David) Tipton, Taylorsville, Kentucky and their children, Nancy and Tom; Tina (Rocky) Dorrough, Middleton, Wisconsin and their daughter Sarah (Melissa) Rodriquez; Earl E "Trey" (Diane) Loftin of Mobile, Alabama and their children; Katie, Emma Rose, and Laura Loftin; James (Amy) Loftin of Fairmount, Indiana and their children Marissa and Braedon Loftin and Blakley and Jake David; and Willis (Isabell) Loftin, Tucson, Arizona and their children Yuri and Oren Loftin. Funeral Service for Earl will be Monday September 25, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL with Pastor Fred Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be from 12-2 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
