Earnest Adel Burton, age 86 of Fairview, Alabama was called home by his Heavenly Father on June 4th, 2016. He was born on May 4th, 1930 in Childersburg, Alabama to James and Ella Burton.
Mr. Burton is survived by his significant other of 42 years, Mary Sue Tanner; two step-children, Connie (Danny) Caylor and Lisa (Billy) Lewis. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, father, siblings and two stepsons, Freddie and Steve Tanner.
As a child he grew up working in their family grist mill and was very fond of playing the guitar and sharing his love of music with others. Mr. Burton served in the United States Army for 20 years where he earned numerous awards and medals for his service and sacrifices for his country.
After retiring from the United States Army he moved to Mobile County where he also retired from the Mobile County Sheriff's Department in 1996 after 27 years of dedication.
Mr. Burton was most proud of his family he shared his life with and the time he spent serving his country and community.
The family would like to thank the staff at Citronelle Nursing Home for all the love and support during Mr. Burton's time there.
