Edgar Lee Morris, Sr. of Mobile, Alabama passed away at the age of 89 on January 5, 2022. He was born on November 22, 1932, in Ridgeway, Illinois. He grew up in Sikeston, Missouri and was one of 8 children. After high school he enlisted in the US Army and then attended the University of Missouri School of Mines and Metallurgy where he received a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He was employed by GM&O Railroad and that is how he found his way to Mobile. He met his wife, Margaret and they married in 1961. Together, they raised their three sons, Lee, Charles, and Dennis. Edgar eventually went to work with the United States Army Corps of Engineers where he worked as a Project Manager for 30 years. He retired in 1993. He and Margaret enjoyed travelling, square dancing and spending time with their grandchildren. After Margaret passed away in 2003, he found love and companionship with his second wife, Norma Boney Morris. They enjoyed 18 years together until his passing.
Edgar is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Eva Mae Morris, his first wife, Margaret, his brothers, Cliff, R.L., and David and his sisters, Carrie, Ruby, Opal, and Pearl. He is survived by his wife, Norma, his sons Lee (Valerie), Charles (Shonna), and Dennis (Helen), his grandchildren Jordan Mathis (Tyler), Mason Morris (Ashton), Katie Mayfield (Dean), Julia Myers (Jonathon), Jana Williams (K.J.), Madison Shealy (Ryan), and Dennis Morris Jr. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren Turner Mathis, Reece Myers, and Lainey Mathis, his sister-in-law, Nanette Morris, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
His family would like to thank the staff at University Oaks and his caregiver Latisha Jones. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
His celebration of life will be Sunday, January 16,2022 with visitation at noon and service at 1:30 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619.
