Edna 'Sue' Cooper (Watson) passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, August 11, 2023, in Mobile, AL at 84 years old, with loved ones by her side.
Sue is preceded by her parents Thomas 'Frank' Watson and Edna Lou Watson (Wall) of Geiger, AL. She is survived by her husband, Jordan R. Cooper of Rosinton, AL and her children Alan Cooper and Suzanne Cooper Kimbrell, her grandchildren Kayla (Shawn) O'Shea and Kara (Ricky) Lewis, her great grandchildren, Gavin O'Shea and Finley Lewis, her sister Martha Maurer and her brother Tommy (Mariem) Watson. Her beloved friend of 30+ years and caretaker, Sharon Malone.
Born November 29, 1938, in Electric Mills, Mississippi, Sue graduated from high school at Livingston, AL. She attended Scuba Mississippi Community College then transferred to Livingston University where she met her husband Jordan and became a schoolteacher. She and Jordan were married August 6, 1959, and just celebrated their 64th year of marriage. Sue taught elementary school in Baldwin County for a few years before dedicating her life to her children as a stay-at-home mom and grandmother.
Growing up as a farmer's daughter she later fell in love with deer hunting and going to the camp with family and friends.
Sue especially will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her fiery spirit that strengthened her family and kept her fighting.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, August 19, 2023, at noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens in Mobile, AL with visitation preceding at 11am.
A reception will follow at Berkshire Hathaway Cooper and Co. on Hillcrest Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated for Sunshine Kids.
