Edward Earl Blackwell, Sr. – age 82; a native of Lumberton, MS and a resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mona Carroll Blackwell; children, Kim Blackwell, Mobile, AL, Eddie Blackwell (Catherine), Mobile, AL, and Monique Mixson (Mitchell), Charleston, SC; 6-grandchildren; 4-great grandchildren; sisters, Merle Bass (Ray), Highlands Ranch, CO, Shirley Carlisle (Keith), Wiggins, MS; other relatives and friends. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Andrew Jack Blackwell, Sr. and Theola Jones Blackwell; siblings, Andrew Jack Blackwell, Jr., Miriam Broadus, June Broadus, Robert Blackwell, Betty Cannon, J.D. Blackwell, Francis Blackwell, and Pauline Reed. Mr. Blackwell, Sr. retired from the oil-field (Halliburton Services) after 47 years and was a member of the Redemption Church -West Campus. He was a former member of the Mobile Baptist Builders. He enjoyed camping, fishing, reading and was an avid Alabama football fan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Redemption Church - West Campus mission fund. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 10:00 AM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 8:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
