Edward Hackney

Edward Hackney, age 91, passed away peacefully in Daphne, Alabama, on Wednesday, October 9th, 2024. He was born on March 4th, 1933, in Durham, North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by; his parents, Clarence and Nettie Hackney; brother, George Hackney; sisters, Marie Hackney and Analeen Wilkinson; and his beloved grandson, Kenneth Musgrove. He is also now reunited with his late wife of 55 years, Margaret Hackney.

Edward leaves behind his four children, Melinda (Cliff) Poplin, Donald Hackney, Ronald (Joyce) Hackney, and Michelle Lancaster. Also left to cherish his memory are his eleven grandchildren, Jessica (Bryan) Lenertz, Tonya (Thomas) Johnston, Ron (Shannon) Hackney, Meagan Hackney, Jennifer (Travis) Adcock, Edward Hackney, Joshua Hackney, Frankie Myers, Michaela (Harold) Matz, Skylar (Ray) Lawrence, and Taylor Hackney. Edward is survived by his eighteen great grandchildren who he loved dearly and his brother Norman (Ann) Hackney. He also leaves behind his beloved beagle, Albert.

Edward was a mechanic for most of his life. He was a great problem solver when it came to working on vehicles and fixing any issues they may have. He was also a collector of tools and if you ever needed a specific tool, you could count on Edward to have it. He also enjoyed gardening and sharing his crops with his family. Edward was a great storyteller and loved to pass on his knowledge and past experiences to all his kids, grandkids or anyone else who was made to listen.

Services will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens in Mobile, Alabama. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with funeral service to follow. He will be laid to rest at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be; Harold Matz, Thomas Johnston, Ron Hackney, Aiden Hackney, Edward Hackney, and Joshua Hackney.
