Edward Joseph Lyons, Sr., 64, beloved father, passed away on Tuesday. He is survived by his children Amy Lyons Burke (Matthew), Edward Joseph Lyons, Jr., Daniel Tanner Lyons, and their Mother Melanie T. Lyons of Birmingham, Alabama. He was expecting his first grandchild, Jude Francis Burke, in late February. He is also survived by brothers, James P. Lyons (Joy), Mark D. Lyons (Debbie), and John T. Lyons (Janna) of Mobile, Alabama, sister Catherine L. Harris ( Jim) of Lake Martin, Alabama, and sister-in-law Melinda B. Lyons of Mobile, Alabama, along with many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lyons graduated from McGill Institute, Spring Hill College, and received a Master's Degree from the University of South Alabama. He previously taught at McGill-Toolen and worked at the Albert P. Brewer Center in Mobile. He retired after a 30-year career as a Special Education teacher working for the Shelby County Board of Education. He was an accomplished singer-songwriter and a loving and dedicated father. He was adored by his three children and will be missed by many friends and family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Dominic Catholic Church on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 12 noon. Visitation will start at 11 am. Burial will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
