Edward Ralph Tibbetts, Sr., a native of Brookline, MA and longtime resident of Mobile and Dauphin Island, AL died Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 82. He graduated from Spring Hill College in 1958. After graduation, he worked in Mobile, AL by day and traveled to Montgomery, AL attending night school, graduating with a Law Degree from Jones Law School. Ed practiced law in Mobile for over 40 years on his own and in Juvenile Court. He was a member of St. Edmund by the Sea Catholic Church; a member of the Mobile Bar Association and American Legion Post 250. He served in the US Army and Reserves and retired as a Lt. Col. In 2011 Ed was inducted into the Spring Hill College Athletic Hall of Fame (Basketball). He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter, Elizabeth Koehler. His survivors include his wife, Sylvia W. Tibbetts; his son, Edward R. Tibbetts, Jr.; two daughters, Kelly (James) Leachman and Jennie (Jim) Bagby; step-daughter, Kimberly Walton; step-son, Timothy Walton; grandchildren, Ashley Leachman (Chuck) Efstration; Drew (Amy) Leachman, Sara Bagby, Jennifer Bagby, John Koehler, Robert Koehler, Hannah Tibbetts; step-grandsons, Shane Walton and Nicholas Walton, other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 30, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from St. Edmund by the Sea Catholic Church on Dauphin Island, AL. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10:30 AM until 12:00 Noon. Interment will be in St. Edmund by the Sea Cemetery on Dauphin Island.
