Edward Allen Wade (Eddie), born on March 31, 1921, in Tupelo, Mississippi, to the late Melinda Mae Bannister Wade and the late Edward Watson Wade, passed away at age 97 on June 28, 2018, in Mobile, AL. Eddie served in the US Navy in World War II and retired from Liberty National Life Insurance in 1982.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Floy Davis Wade, sons Michael Wayne Wade, Sr. of Biloxi, MS, Terry Ray Wade (Pat) of Dallas, TX, and daughter, Cynthia Wade Bostick of Mobile, AL, grandsons, Michael Wayne Wade, Jr. (Deidre), Christopher Keith Bostick (Natalia), Justin Garrett Wade (Angela), Brett Austin Wade (Kristen), and granddaughters, Dana Cameron Sosebee (Matthew), Natasha Gayle Pounders (Jerry), and Michelle Bostick Robinson (Daniel), 15 great-grandchildren, brothers, Joe Wade (Fay) of Tupelo, MS, Frank Wade (Ann) of West Point, MS, and sisters, Twila Dye of Verona, MS and Mavis Slaton (Jack) of Laurel, MS, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Eddie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved God and served as a deacon at Zion Baptist Church since the 1950's. He loved gardening and bee-keeping. Eddie was a pitcher for his church softball team until retiring at 65 years old. After graduating President of his class of 1941, he came to Mobile and worked as a master welder at the shipyard from 1942-1944 until volunteering for service. Edward was a vital member of his large family and will be desperately missed.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 with the funeral service officiated by Bruce Moseley and Lonnie Byrd following at 12:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Rd. Mobile. AL, 36619. Donations may be made to any Alzheimer's Association.
