Eleanor Lynch

September 17, 1936 — March 2, 2020

Eleanor M. Lynch, known to her family as ‘Meme’, died at home on March 2, 2020, following a brief illness. Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Eleanor was a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a resident of Mobile, AL since 1960. Eleanor worked for Youth Ministries for Mobile Dioceses, then Morrison’s Corporation as President of Purchasing until her retirement. After retirement, Eleanor volunteered for Catholic Charities at both Providence and Springhill Hospitals. She loved calligraphy, painting, playing the piano, and cooking. She had been an active member of Little Flower, St. Dominic, and St. Pius X parishes. Nearest to her heart was her family who adored her.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, John J. Lynch, Jr.; her parents, John W. McNichol, Sr. and Eleanor K. McNichol; and great-granddaughter, Judith Grayson Caylor.
She is survived by her sisters, Barbara M. (late Tom) Reed of Hoover, AL and Joan (Jim) Davis of San Antonio, TX; brother, Jack (Judi) McNichol of Mobile, AL; six children, Eleanor Taylor of Mobile, AL, Jack (Judy) Lynch of Mobile, AL, Joseph (Barb) Lynch of Chicago, IL, David (Cyndi) Lynch of Mobile, AL, Catherine (Howard) Buck of New London, PA, and Francis Shannon (Shawn) Lynch of Dothan, AL; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Kathleen Barrett of Philadelphia, PA; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 5, 2020, at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home located at 6040 Three Notch Rd. from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00 noon on Friday, March 6, 2020, at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Burma Road. Burial will be in Pine Crest West Cemetery on Snow Road, Mobile, AL 36693.
