Elfriede Margarete Horton, a native of Berlin, Germany and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the age of 76. She attended Our Savior Catholic Church, was an accomplished seamstress and artist and enjoyed the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents, George Oswald Heinrich Schmidt and Margarethe Agnes Anna Peickert Schmidt; her husband, Wilson J. Horton; her companion, George Thomas Fickling, and her sister, Eva Rittner. Her survivors include her daughter, Manuela G. (Robert) Golden; her son, Bruce E. (Nancy) Horton; her sister, Hilda Muller; four grandchildren, Sandy Wyatt, Matthew (Margaux) Golden, Chaiselyn Luquire and Whitney (Tony) Umer; four great-grandchildren, Lucille Rose Golden, Fisher Luquire, Eva Luquire and Aiden Umer; other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:00 AM in Mobile Memorial Gardens. The family will receive Friday morning at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home beginning at 9:00 AM.
