Elizabeth Ann Day (July 7, 1934 - Dec. 5, 2019)

Elizabeth Ann Day, born July 7, 1934, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019. She was born in Fairfield, Alabama, and was a graduate of Fairfield High School and attended Auburn University and Jacksonville State University. She later relocated to Mobile with her loving husband where she has been a resident for more than 50 years.

She was an employee of Ciba-Geigy as a computer operator, where she was honored with an Employee Achievement Award and later retired in 1993. Her most rewarding time was spent with her family, raising her four children and later being dedicated to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Traveling, events, graduations, birthdays and recitals were just a few of her many hobbies. She was an avid Auburn fan and enjoyed keeping up with sports, politics and loved ones through her social media channels. She was known as "Meco" not only to her family but to everyone. She was truly loved and known for her humor, honesty and feisty retorts.

She is survived by her three daughters Melanie Bankhead (Ernie), Caroline Gentry, Amy Matthews (Mike); seven grandchildren Annabelle Espinoza, Linzie Atkinson (Adam), Beth Dukes (Brent), Tiffany Heath (Jordan), Kelley Day, JamieDay Montgomery (Drew), Patrick Day (Courtney); eight great grandchildren Tomas Espinoza, Landon Dukes, McKenzie Odom, Kaylee Atkinson, Mary Jordan Dukes, Kendallynn Odom, Ivy Day, Brooklynn Atkinson (expected January 2020), along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years William Henderson Day; parents James McCrorie, Frances and Paul Leonard; sisters Mary Catherine Jones and Emily Wilson; son William Paul Day.

The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home (6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL 36619) on Saturday, Dec. 14 at noon, with the service beginning at 2 p.m.

She selflessly donated to the University of South Alabama Anatomical Gifts Program. Flowers are welcome and memorial donations may be made in her honor to Penelope House, P.O. Box 9127, Mobile, AL 36691.
