Ella Dean Bates Ellisor was born August 6, 1935 in Asheville, North Carolina. She was in the first graduating class at Vigor High School in 1952. On Friday morning, May 20, 2022 she joined generations of loved ones in Heaven. Shortly before her passing she told her granddaughter, "I see angels!"
Ella was the wife of a United Methodist Pastor and served with him in a number of churches throughout the Alabama/West Florida Conference. She was the ideal "Preacher's Wife" serving as a pianist, choir member and director, and children and youth assistant. She was active in the United Methodist Women, the Mobile District Leadership organizations, traveled around the world singing with the Sweet Adelines, helped the less fortunate in many ways, along with serving on numerous committees and charities. She was always one to see a need and take action. She was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church for the last 25 years singing in the choir, volunteering at the Recreation Desk, and serving in other areas when the need was seen. Her presence will be missed by many!
Ella was preceded in death by her parents, John R. Bates and Susan Allison Bates, and her husband of 38 years, Reverend Tom M. Ellisor, Jr. She is survived by her three children, Thomas Steven Ellisor (Marianne), Rev. Robert Glenn Ellisor (Faith), and Teresa Ellisor Gulledge (Bill), five grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, along with her one loving sister, Robbie Sue Bates Bunkley.
