Mrs. Ena ``Faye" (Morgan) Herrin of Mobile, AL passed away the morning of February 20, 2024 at the age of 89. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to anyone she met; she was famous for never meeting a stranger. Faye was the daughter of Marshall and Gladys (White) Morgan, born May 3rd, 1934, in Beattyville, KY.
After growing up on a farm in Kentucky, she carried her love for animals, children, and for those in need throughout her life, even after moving to the "big city" of Mobile, AL in 1943. She met her husband of 58 years, Mr. Mack Ray Herrin Sr., while he was serving in the Navy, and they were married in 1957. Faye will be remembered for always cooking, serving sweet tea, and taking care of whoever came into her kitchen, rescuing animals of all kinds, and being the best at finding a good sale at Dillard's. The neighborhood kids would come to her house knowing she would feed them and give them candy to take
home. She could out-quote a preacher reciting Bible verses, and she always had a song to sing. Until the end, she was always looking for the next person she could help or friend she could make.
God-loving, smart, funny, sarcastic, hardworking, and incredibly selfless are a few words to describe her, but could never fully cover how amazing of a woman Faye was. She enjoyed playing bunco with her amazing friends, loved bingo, and the sound of winning on occasion from a slot machine. Her love and spirit will be greatly missed by many.
Faye is survived by her two daughters, Victoria Barnett and Melissa Whiten, her grandchildren, Brandi Barnett, Cortney (Herrin) Morris, Callie Carrio, and Mack Ray Herrin III, and her great-grandchildren, Blacksher Morris, Preston Morris, and Ava Luker. She is preceded in death by her husband Mack Ray Herrin Sr., her son, Mack Ray Herrin Jr., and her best friends and siblings, Peggy May, Carl Morgan, and Joyce Goodman.
Faye's Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 27th at 11:00 am at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6040 Three Notch Road Mobile, AL.
