Ennis "Speedy" Warren, 92, of Mobile, Alabama went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 14, 2015. He was an active member of Woodridge Baptists Church.
Speedy was born in Wilmer, Alabama and preceded in death by his father, Ennis A. Warren, and mother Nola Mae Parker Warren. He is survived by his wife, Ethel, with who he enjoyed 63 wonderful years. He is also survived by a son Ennis C. Warren, Jr (Tanja); 2 daughters Linda (Charles) Nolan, and Martha Stewart; 3 grandchildren Melanie Howard, Alex Stoeck and Taylor Warren; and 4 grandchildren.
After graduating from Baker High School in 1942, where he played 6 man football and ran track, he served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. He was stationed at Paddington, England as a top turret gunner on a B-17, flying 35 missions over Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters and received two Presidential Citations.
After his tour of military duty was completed, he went to work at Brookley Field and later Columbus AFB, Mississippi as an Air Traffic Control Specialist, retiring after 30 years.
Some of his life accomplishments were serving on the Board of Mission of Hope, Chairman of the Lion's club in Columbus MS, One of his most personal proudest recognitions was being given the title of Baker School Honorary Captain. In September 2012 he was given the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C. for an "Honor Flight' recognizing WWII Veterans.
Services will be held at on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Woodridge Baptist Church. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m to 12:00 Noon, with services at 12: noon. Interment will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens, 6100 Three Notch Rd.
