Ethel Lois Pittman Owen, 85, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at a Columbus, MS. hospital.
Lois is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years William E. Owen, daughters Donna Maples (Jim) and Connie Jernigan.
Born October 24, 1936, she was the "middle" daughter. Like a true Saturday middle child, she was independent, happy to do her own thing, and not afraid to try something new. Lois opened Columbus Electrolysis in 1981. Wanting to offer more, she added skincare. Traveling to London for training was a highlight for her and Bill. (Don't ask about their time in Paris.) Lois offered other "firsts" for her clients - nails, reflexology, and permanent make-up tattooing. With son Marty and daughter-in-law Kittie's salon next door, they provided a complete salon experience.
Lois found her real calling as "Gran" to 9 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter. As if that wasn't enough, she "adopted" all her children's friends, in-laws and their extended families.
She was predeceased by her children Martin L. Fountain and Brenda F. Murphy, her parents, Jesse B. & Vera T. Pittman, and sisters Vera Parker and Joyce Horn.
Grandchildren: Eric Maples, Sean Donegan, Chris Donegan (Ursula), Sarah Jernigan, Josh Fountain (Lauren), Kit Sanders (Justin), Jonathan Fountain (Heather), Lacy Stamps (Seth) and Hanna Hayes (Josh).
Nephews: Bruce Winfield (Lea), Greg Winfield (Lynne), Mark Horn
Niece: Kelly Franklin (Howard)
