Eula Rae Smith McLendon, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, died Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the age of 75. She was a graduate of Murphy High School; was a member of a bowling league; dabbled in ceramics and art; was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International; was active in two mystic organizations; coached her daughters in softball with Theodore Athletic Association; and was a traffic officer with Mobile County Sheriff's Department at Nan Gray Davis Elementary School. She was preceded in death by parents, James Hughie Smith and Eula Ree Fendley Smith. Her survivors include her husband, Huey Gene McLendon, Sr.; children, Huey Gene McLendon, Jr., Darrell A. (Jasminca) McLendon, Eric M. (Eve) Moody, Michelle A. Moody, Cherie A. Weatherby, Desiree E. (Bryce C.) Karcher and Keith D. McLendon; her sisters, Bama J. Springer and Mary A. (Jerry) Smith; one brother, James Hughie Smith; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
