Eva E Lyles, a native of Berlin, Germany and a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama, died Wednesday May 5, 2021 at the age of 91. Eva was a WWII bride and military wife for 24 years. She traveled the world making many lifelong friends along the way. To know her was to Iove her. Eva never met a stranger and eagerly shared all she had with all she knew. She often remarked that material things weren't important. It was personal relationships that mattered in life. She knew all too well how quickly one can lose everything so it was the people in her life she valued above all else. She came to this country in 1949 and was so proud to be a naturalized American citizen. Eva had a remarkable memory and consequently was the honorary family historian. If you wanted to know something about the past you would simply ask Aunt Eva. She'd remember for sure. Eva was an impeccable housekeeper, fabulous cook, accomplished seamstress, and needlecraft enthusiast. She thrilled in baking that " special" birthday pound cake for many of her friends and relatives. We all looked forward to "ours" each year! Eva was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her life and purpose and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 71 years, Dulan Earl Lyles, Jr. and his two sisters, Urcle Lee Godwin and Dessa Ava Phillips whom she loved as "sisters". Her survivors include her devoted daughter, Stephanie (Danny) Williamson; two adoring grandsons, Brian Williamson and Aaron ( Lauren) Williamson and soon to be great-granddaughter (August 2021). She would have been over the moon with delight! She also leaves behind four very special nieces, Joy Miller, Deborah Phillips, Terri Givens and Toni Richardson; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday May 11, 2021 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service and internment in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
