Floyd Lavon Stapleton, Sr., a native of Pass Christian, MS and longtime resident of Theodore, AL, died Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents, Monroe Stapleton and Virginia Mae Duck Jarvis; his step-father who raised him, James David Jarvis; his wife, Helen Edwina Brown Stapleton; his son, Floyd Lavon Stapleton, Jr. and his brother, Robert Stapleton. His survivors include his children, Elaine Stapleton Hyre, Virginia Stapleton (Jerry) Bynum, Martin (Loretta) Stapleton, Vivian Ann Stapleton (Terrell) Lee, Patricia Jean Stapleton Dunnam, Darlene Stapleton (Joe) Dixon, Tracey Stapleton (Barry) Auerbach and Christopher Mark Stapleton; 24 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 12:00 Noon from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.
