Frances Kelly Bennett peacefully departed this life while at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on 11/02/2021. She was a spirited 91 years old. Frances was a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arvell K. "Trigger" Bennett, her son, John Arvell Bennett, Sr., and her daughter-in-law, Rita Sullivan Bennett.
She was a member of The Rainbow Girls, and a lifelong member of The Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 348 (Mobile, Al), where she served as Chaplain and Marshall.
A graduate of Murphy High School's Class of 1949, she was a member of Nu Phi Mu Sorority. While at Murphy, she was honored as the recipient of the Art Award, and was awarded membership into the Fan Ran Lett Art Society.
Art would remain a passion for the rest of her life. She enjoyed painting, drawing, sculpting, and many other crafts. She was well known in the community for her outstanding ceramic works, but she was most happy when creating her beloved ceramic angels. For many years, she was a member of the Mobile Arts Association and the Mobile Museum of Art (formerly Fine Art Museum of the South).
She is survived by three grandchildren: Sierra Bennett Perry, John Arvell Bennett, Jr. (wife- Gosia Leska), and Karen Nicole Reed (husband- Waylon), two great-grandchildren: Maya Bennett and Kendall Reed, and many special nieces and nephews.
She was a lifelong member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Chickasaw, Alabama, and a member of St. Martha's Altar Guild.
Mrs. Bennett's colorful life will be celebrated at Mobile Memorial Gardens funeral home, with a visitation at 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, 11/05/2021. She will have a jazz band procession to her graveside service in the Gardens immediately following the chapel visitation.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Bennett and her family request that you make a donation in her honor to the American Cancer Society, any branch of the Mobile area arts foundations, or to your favorite charity.
