HARRIS
January 19, 2017
Frances Henrietta Harris, 87, of Mobile, Alabama, passed away on January 19, 2017, surrounded by her family. Henrietta was born on April 11, 1929, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to the late Addie Frances and James Henry Culpepper. In addition to her parents, Henrietta is preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, William Henry (Bill) Harris. After her high school graduation in Pine Bluff, Henrietta attended Louisiana State University, graduating in 1951 with a B.S. from the College of Commerce (now the E.J. Ourso College of Business). She was an avid LSU supporter and faithfully attended Golden Tiger alumni celebration events. With her degree from LSU, she worked at Arkansas Power and Light in Pine Bluff. There, she met the love of her life and constant companion, Bill, who she married on April 28, 1957. After numerous moves for Bill's career with International Paper, the family settled in Mobile. Henrietta enjoyed needlework, social gatherings of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), bird watching and photography. She is survived by her three children, Lee Ann Harris of Wetumpka, Alabama, William David Harris (along with his wife Nathalie Owen Harris and children William David, Jr. and Daniel Bradford) of Natchez, Mississippi, and James Richard Harris of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Henrietta's family would like to extend heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Visiting Angels for providing care since her husband's passing and to the dedicated staff of Providence Hospital and Springhill Medical Center. The family will host a visitation at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 23 preceding funeral services at 1:15 p.m. All services will be at the Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, Al, 36619. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be made to the LSU Foundation (www.lsufoundation.org), the American Heart Association (www.heart.org) or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
