Frances Muriel DuBose Thomas left this earthly life on September 4, 2017. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Morris Edward DuBose and Mary Ethel Dickey DuBose; and by her husband, James Howard Thomas, Sr. Her survivors include four children, Janet Thomas (John) Bailey, James Howard (Anita) Thomas, Jr., Julia Thomas Cartledge (Liston, deceased) and John David Thomas (Letitia, deceased); six grandchildren, Angel Thomas (Jonathan) Brooks, Jamison Ward (Jennifer) Thomas, John Ira Bailey, III, James Thomas (Megan) Bailey, Liston Eli (Caroline) Cartledge, III and Jamie Cartledge (Mitchell) Theodore; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Brooks and Branch Thomas; other relatives and friends. Frances was born in Bladen Springs, AL and graduated from Washington County High School in 1945. Shortly thereafter, she and her parents moved to Mobile, AL. She married in 1949 and worked for three years at GM&O Railroad until her first child was born. From 1952 onward, her chosen vocation and life's joy was the care and nurture of her family. She claimed and lived the Scripture "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and your neighbor as yourself". Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
