Mary Frances "Francine" Hays Tapia, a native of Memphis, TN and longtime resident of Eight Mile, AL, died Monday, July 23, 2018 at the age of 91. She was a retired cosmetologist. Words cannot describe how much she was loved and will be missed by family and friends. She was an inspiration to us all with kind words, deeds and gentle touch. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. We all know "Daddy" was dearest to her heart. The love they both shared stood the test of time. Whether she was called "Mama", "Nana", "Grandma" or simply "Friend" … she will never be forgotten. The family wishes to thank everyone for their friendship, support, love and prayers. Francine was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Dyer Hays and Erma Mae Hull Hays; her husband, Eugene Henry Tapia; and two sisters, Dorothy Mae Hays Brannon and Lorraine Hays Bergan. Her survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Kaaron Tapia and Shaaron Jeanne Tapia (Charley) Ethchison; one granddaughter, Dede (Charles) Couey-Livings; two great-grandchildren, Ian Couey-Livings and Cara Alexandra Couey-Livings; niece, Brenda Bergan (Ivan) Kingsley; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday morning from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
