Freddie Ray Roberts, a native of Newton, MS and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the age of 81. He was a member of Crawford Baptist Church; a retired CSX Railroad Engineer and former Local and International Railroad Chairman of BLE Local 140. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton DeKalb Roberts, Jr. and Geneva Roberts Chapman; his son, Curtis Ray Roberts and his sister, Neida Faye Roberts Jeffcoat. His survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lora Lorine Moody Roberts; his son, Milton E. "Mickey" (Lena) Roberts; his daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Roberts (Bill) Morse; four grandchildren, Jessica Leigh (Adam) Upchurch, Christina Audrey Ann Page, Landon Cole Roberts, India Marie Roberts, Orrin (Shena) Morse and Robin Morse (Bryan) Byrd; four great-grandchildren, Isabelle Upchurch, Brighton Upchurch, Elias Yokley and Carly Morse; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services, officiated by Pastor Jay Robertson, will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 10:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
