Gary was a member of Georgetown Assembly of God, where he loved worship. He loved to sing and praise God. After reading his bible, and journaling daily, he gave praise in song for his family and friends. Before he was a member at Georgetown Assembly of God, Gary and Grace were members at His Fathers House for many years.
Gary loved woodworking, and building things for his family. He had built many toy boxes Each one was unique for that specific child. At Christmas, he built each lady a jewelry box. Gary was generous, never forgetting a birthday, anniversary or just a call when you needed it. He would say, the Lord or Gracie talked to me, and I need to do what they tell me to do.
Gary retired as a machinist at Chevron. He stayed in touch with his buddies. They would have breakfast now and then. They talked football, politics, and would share each other’s lives. Always a good friend to everyone. Gary is happy now, in the arms of his loving Savior, and wife, Grace.
Funeral services for Gary Taylor Battiste, who died Monday February 1, at Providence hospital will be held at the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens on February 4 at 2pm, followed by a graveside service.
