A native of West Palm Beach, Florida, and a resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, surrounded by the love of his family. Gary was a graduate of Murphy High School and attended Spring Hill College and the University of South Alabama. His retail career included many years of management with T. G. & Y. Stores Company along with years with Dollar General Corporation and Family Dollar Stores as a store opener at the time of his retirement. He honorably served in the U.S. Army in Italy. He was awarded 2 Army Commendation Medals for Meritorious Service. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Teri Shaw Richardson; daughter, Melissa James of Montgomery. AL; grandson, Richard Michael Harris, Montgomery, AL; brother and sister-in-law, Roger A. Richardson and Joy F. Richardson, Fairhope AL; sister and brother-n-law, Karen R. Miller and Dennis Miller, West Salem, Wisconsin; sister-in-law and brother-in law, Linda K. Smith and Clayton Smith, Mobile, AL; nieces and nephews, Stacy Taylor (Chan), Jeff Richardson, Brian Miller (Carrie), Richie Colmer (Joni) and Tina Smith (Daniel) and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018, from 2 p.m. - 3 pm. from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with a Memorial service immediately following at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity in his honor. Condolences may be made at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
