1929-2021

Genie (Iphigenia) Lukes fell asleep in the Lord June 14, 2021. She was born June 13, 1929 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by parents, Mary L. and Sarantis Lardas; brother, Milton Lardas; and sister, Diana Lardas. She married Nick G. Lukes at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Pittsburgh, PA on November 23, 1956. Genie enjoyed sewing, cooking, and creating jewelry as a silversmith. She loved her family and treasured their vacation time at the beach. She belonged to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and its Ladies' Philoptochos Society. She was also a member of the Pan-Icarian Brotherhood of America, the Mobile Rock and Gem Society, and the Mobile International Festival. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Nick G. Lukes; son, George N. (Sophia) Lukes; daughters, Mary Lukes, Suzanne (Mark) Erwin, Cynthia (Todd) Hall, and Valerie (Tim) Cockrell; sister, Elaine (Xenophon) Papanikolaou; grandchildren, Nicholas (Madeline) Hall, Owen Cockrell, Marika Hall, Theophilos Cockrell, Cole Blaise Hall, Alisa Erwin. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, June 18, 2021 at 12:00 pm with visitation at 11:00 am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Mobile, AL. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in Genie's memory.
