George Rohm passed away peacefully at Prattville Baptist Hospital on Monday, September 3, 2018. He is survived by his four children, Teresa Rohm Bufkin (David) Autaugaville, AL, David and Cindy Rohm, Daphne, AL, and Theresa O. Rohm (Art "Buddy"), Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, David Michael Bufkin, Atlanta, GA, Michelle Bufkin, Little Rock, AR, Jessica Rohm, Virginia Beach, VA, Travis and Mary Rohm, Mobile, AL, Tyler Rohm, Chicago, IL and Madison Rohm, Virginia Beach, VA.; his three great-granddaughters, Hydi, Brooklyn, and Grace, Mobile, AL and one expectant great-grandson due in December, 2018, Jaxson Arthur Rohm, Mobile, AL; one sister, Doris Rohm McClantoc; two brothers, Robert Rohm and Billy Rohm; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Donna Dulworth Rohm; his son, Arthur "Buddy" George Rohm, Jr; his son-in-law, David M. Bufkin; his parents, John William Rohm and Helen Beatrice Specht Rohm; one sister, Florence Rohm McClantoc; and three brothers, Johnny Rohm, Richard Rohm, and Howard Rohm. George was an airman in the Air Force and served in the Korean War. He was the owner of Southern Marina and Southern Built Boats for many years. He worked at Brookley Field and later retired from Teledyne Continental Motors. He had his own band and played and wrote music most of his life. He was the Regional Coordinator for the Mobile Chapter of the Nashville Songwriters Association International and served for years as the President of the Mobile Songwriters Group. He started the Hank Williams Songwriting Contest held in conjunction with the Hank Williams Festival in Georgiana, Alabama. He attended Creekwood Church of Christ. Visitation will be held Friday, September 7, 2018 at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services, with David Sargent, preacher at Creekwood Church of Christ, and Allan Eldridge, preacher at University Church of Christ officiating, will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be David Michael Bufkin, Travis Rohm, Emery Childress, Paul Lores, Allen Lores, Ronnie Underwood, Eddie Holt, and Steve Veal. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Mobile Songwriters Association. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com
