George Romano

George Wayne Romano passed away on June 06, 2019.  He was born on February 10, 1943 in Prichard, Alabama and resided in Theodore, Alabama.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Willie Lou Romano.  He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Romano; Florence McLaurin (sister); Shelby Bell (mother in law); foster son, Dung Nguyen (Thuy); stepdaughter, Karen Collier (Jimmy); step son, Christopher Etheridge; grandchildren, Milla Etheridge, Shelby Collier, Aubrey Collier, Jennie Nguyen, Jesse Nguyen, and Justin Nguyen; Paul McLaurin (nephew); Brandi Garland (niece); Ursula Romano.

George received a B.S. degree in math from Livingston State College, a master’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in math and psychology from the University of South Alabama, and an Education Specialist Certification from the University of Alabama.

George dedicated the majority of his life (46 years) to the field of education and all that knew him knew that he loved Alabama football, Mary G. Montgomery High School, fishing, and traveling.

Since his retirement in 2011, George took great pleasure in relaxing by the lake, fishing from his pier or boat, and traveling aboard cruise ships.

Visitation will be Monday, June 10th from 5:00-7:00 PM at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM from Our Savior Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Jimmie Collier, Rusty Glover, Ronnie Rowell, Bill Baker, Scott Lesley, Paul McLaurin, A.J. LeGrone, and Hank Farnell. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilefuneralservice.com.
