George Donald Smith, Sr.,a native of Jasper, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the age of 71. Mr. Smith worked in law enforcement for many years and is a retired Alabama State Trooper. After retirement, he worked as a Deputy United States Marshal in the Federal Building here in Mobile, AL until June, 2007. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lura Henderson Smith and Zettie Mae Williams Smith and his brother, Ronald Smith. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Ann Tomlin Smith; his daughter, "Sissy" Smith (Jimmy) Carter; his son, Donnie (Darcy) Smith; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Stringfellow, Donald Smith and Holland Long; three great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Christian and Callie; beloved family friend, Carol Ridley Smith; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening, April 27, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
