Giles Ray

Giles Egbert Ray, a native of Greenwood, MS, born November 13, 1928, longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at the age of 91. Giles was preceded in death by his wife, Velma “Pat” Ray; his son, Kenneth Ray; and his parents, Egbert Ray and Louella Wiggins Ray. His survivors include his son, Douglas Ray; daughter, Patricia Ault; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He loved listening to and playing gospel, country and bluegrass music. He was an avid record collector and was a US Navy veteran who loved his country. He worked as a body repairman and owned and operated his own body shop for over 20 years until his retirement. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until service time. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
