It is with great sadness that the family of Glenn Kendall Goff (born April 29, 1961) announce his passing on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. Glenn was a strong family man who taught so many what the true meaning of family really is all about. He was a devoted husband and proud father. But for Glenn, family went beyond these relationships. Whether it was all the young men he coached through the years at Matthews Park in baseball or the countless others he mentored and invested his time and energy into, Glenn was the ultimate example of consistently loving others and making everyone feel like family to him. Generous to everyone, fun-loving and always ready with a funny, witty comment, Glenn never met a stranger and everyone he encountered were better because they met him. A life-long sports fan, baseball was his first sports love, that and any sport his boys were playing. He was always there to support them and their teams and to help coach and cheer them on. As a graduate of UMS in 1979, he was an avid supporter of all things UMS-Wright Bulldogs and was a fixture behind home plate for baseball games. In 1983 he graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in finance. He was a member of Heron Lakes for 20+ years and loved a good golf outing with his boys or friends any chance he could. In his professional life, he was a very successful financial planner who made his clients feel much more like family members than just business partners. Behind the scenes he was such a devoted supporter of many local charities and helped them all make deeper impacts on our community. Glenn was preceded in death by his mother and father, James Otis and Emily Early Goff, and his sister, Debbie Stoudenmire. He is survived by his loving wife, Starla Goff; their two sons, Dylan and Dalton Goff; two nephews; other relatives; countless former players; friends; and many others who all loved him dearly and will miss him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12pm until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers and per Glenn’s wishes and passions, the family asks that you make a donation in his name to UMS-Wright Baseball and/or to his favorite charity, Young Life of Mobile, 7171 Cottage Hill Road, Mobile, AL 36695. If attending, please comply with social distancing guidelines. Facial masks are required. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
