Gregg Tyson

Gregg Ellis Tyson, a native of Washington, D.C., and longtime resident of Mobile County, died November 12, 2020, at his Dauphin Island home. He was 72. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean McCarthy Tyson and Kenneth H. Tyson Sr.

Survivors include his brother, Kenneth H. (Patsy) Tyson Jr.; sister, Susan Tyson Scott; niece, Nicole (Kym) Claw; great-nieces, Kris Lambert, Destiny Scott; great-nephew, Hunter Claw; and many other relatives and friends.

Tyson, a veteran of the United States Air Force, was retired after 34 years of service from the Dauphin Island Park and Beach Board. Tyson, who was affectionately known as "The Flounder Man," was working part-time for The Inn at Dauphin Island Condos at the time of his death.

A 1966 graduate of Theodore High School, Tyson was a warm-hearted, kind person who loved his family and relished the natural wonders of Dauphin Island. He was happy to call the barrier island his home, where he enjoyed fishing and metal-detecting.
