Harold Eugene “Gene” Rhodes, born in Ft. Benning, GA, raised in Prattville, AL and current resident of Theodore, AL in the Fowl River Community, died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at the age of 75. Gene was a member of Baumhauer Road Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee; was a US Army veteran; coached TAA Little League Baseball for many years and formerly owned and operated A&R Appliances. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Harold Rhodes and Willie Carol Gardner Rhodes; his son Bobby Wayne Simmons; a brother, John Rhodes and grandson, Artis “Buster” McLendon. His survivors include his wife and love of his life, Mary Rhodes; his children, Jared Rhodes, Brian Rhodes, James A. Simmons, Terri Rhodes, Marilyn A. (Clarke) Posey and Sherry Dorinda Crosby; his brother, Paul Alton Rhodes; one sister, Teresa (Jerry) Washburn; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; nieces; nephews; other relatives and special friends, Terry Faulkner, Charlie Lyles and Clyde Garrett. Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Rhodes, Jay Saucier, Barry Simmons, Danny Wilkerson, Allen Smith and Eddie Roebuck. Special appreciation and thanks are extended to the VA Healthcare System, especially Dr. S. Kannan, Dr. K. Kirshner and Dr. A. Rammon for their excellent and dedicated care and treatment and family support over the past 30 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service. Interment will follow in Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS at 2:30 PM.
