Harold Whiddon

Harold Dwight Whiddon, a native of Chickasaw, AL and longtime resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2017 at the age of 63. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Alvin H. Whiddon, Sr. and Lorene C. Whiddon. He graduated from Vigor High School and worked at Pep Boys following 20 years of employment at Alabama State Docks. Dwight was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Chickasaw where he served as a Deacon and will always be remembered for his dedicated church work, bible studies, love for people, singing in the choir and the praise team. He was known for his kindness to others, his cheerful attitude and being the primary and loving caregiver for is mother in her golden years until her death at the age of 91. Dwight enjoyed Alabama football, cherished his fond memories of deep sea and fresh water fishing with his Dad, always looked forward to summers with the family at their cottage in Belle Fontaine, and appreciated working with his wonderful friends at Pep Boys. He is survived by his brother, Holmes Whiddon; sister-in-law, Connie Whiddon; nieces; nephew; aunts; cousins; other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Chickasaw, 92 5th Street, Chickasaw, AL with services immediately following at 11:00 AM. Pastor Adam Hammond will officiate. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens in the Garden of Gethsemane.
