Helen Santos Torres Higdon, 79, returned to her heavenly home on March 4, 2020. Her devotion to her family and firm faith in God supported her and ultimately gave her peace in her untimely passing.
Helen was born to Vincente and Juana Santos Torres, in Agat, Guam on September 27, 1940. She was immersed in the Catholic community that was her lifelong support from an early age. She was an active member within the Legion of Mary, St. Vincent de Paul Parish, and dedicated to her faith, community and family. She held a master’s degree in education and was an educator at heart, most notably as a teacher on the Navajo Reservation and Principal of the Winslow Student Residential Hall in Winslow, AZ. She loved gardening as well as learning and helping others deepen their Catholic faith.
Helen was blessed with a large and loving family. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them in the Catholic faith. She raised her children with patience and humility. She often enjoyed family trips sightseeing and visiting family across the US, Guam and Hawaii. She was kind, well-spoken, and always had time for anyone that crossed her path. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
