Helen Owens Jackson, born on November 20, 1931 to the late Edward Joshua Owens and Effie
Mae Kirskey Owens, went home to her Heavenly Father at the age of 92 on April 10, 2024.
She was a longtime resident of Theodore, Alabama, and spent 13 years teaching 5th grade in the
private sector, both at the Independent Methodist School (IMS) and Magnolia Springs Christian
School. She was a devout Christian who loved her Lord and Savior, and enjoyed attending
Sunday School and a good church service. She was on her 5th read of the Bible from Genesis to
Revelation when she passed away.
Helen was also a talented musician and a gifted writer. She played a wide array of instruments,
which included the organ, piano, steel guitar, and keyboard. She wrote poetry, songs, and short
stories. In her free time, she also enjoyed playing cards, reading, solving sudoku puzzles, and
watching Alabama football.
Helen will be remembered as loving, compassionate, strong, and protective. She always offered a
listening ear, a shoulder to lean on, and was a wonderful "advisor" to those she spent time with.
She was completely and totally devoted to her friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Effie Mae "Peck" Kirskey Owens; father, Edward Joshua
"Jimmy" Owens; husband, George Seabourn "Jack" Jackson; brother, Dr. Henry Cleamon
"Buddy" Owens; and son, Clinton Edward Jackson.
Her survivors include her son, Bennie "Wayne" Alligood (Alison Wallis); daughter-in-law,
Brenda Hutto Jackson; grandchildren, Benjamin Clinton Jackson and Matthew Edward (Sydney)
Jackson; great-grandchildren: Braylen, Emma, Blakely, Tucker, and Remington Jackson; and a
host of other relatives and loved ones.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Henry and Gloria Hutto, and Stacey
Ackenbech for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Mobile Memorial Gardens.
