Helen Thompson

Helen Zirlott Thompson, age 91 and lifelong resident of Coden, AL, went home peacefully to be with her Lord Jesus on Saturday, May 18, 2019.  Helen was born on September 28, 1927.  On December 31, 1946, she married the love of her life, James Reynolds Thompson.  They were married one day shy of 56 years until his passing on December 30, 2002.

In addition to her church and family, Helen loved flowers and spent as many hours as possible working in her yard. Her greatest love, however, was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She loved to sing and pray to Him every day throughout the day.

Helen was preceded in her home-going by her parents, George Zirlott and Sarah Catherine Ladnier Zirlott; her husband, Reynolds “Rink” Thompson; her son, Glenn Thompson; daughter Rebecca “Becky” Thompson Bennett; granddaughter, Kristin Bennett; and grandson, Mark Christopher Faggard.

She is survived by two daughters, Carlotta Thompson and Tena Faggard (Mark); one granddaughter, Amy Bennett; three grandsons, Andrew (Meagan) Faggard, John Mark Faggard and Noah Faggard; many special nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

The family extends their great appreciation to all who prayed with and for them during this past year.  Thanks to the staff of Southern Care Hospice with special thanks to Helen’s nurse, Melissa Zeigler, and her aide and honorary granddaughter, Jannetter Shaw.   Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at 12:00 Noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time.  Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.  Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
