Henry J. Duff, Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 in Mobile, Alabama at the age of 93.
Henry was born in Mobile to Henry and Theresa Duff on June 3, 1931. While spending his youth in the Oakdale area, he attended and graduated from Murphy High School in 1949. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. After this service, he joined the National Guard and worked for L & N Railroad before being hired at Scott Paper Company, from which he retired in 1993.
Henry married Dorothy (Skeeter) Tompkins on April 16, 1955 and purchased their first and current home on Sayner Avenue in Mobile. On August 21, 1958 their son Kevin was born. On July 21, 1961 their daughter Kim was born.
Henry enjoyed all things outdoors. Camping, fishing, crabbing, and digging for relics were some of his favorite activities. He also loved collecting model trains and refurbishing antique toys. All of these were passions, but his devotion and love for The University of Alabama and all things BAMA are second to none.
Henry was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandpa, and Great Grandpa. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Skeeter, son Kevin (Virginia), daughter Kim (Jeff), along with numerous cousins and other family and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, August 5, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 6040 Three Notch Road, Mobile, AL. 36619. Visitation will be followed by a Chapel service beginning at 1:00 p.m. There will be no graveside service.
