Herbert Donald Dockery, passionate husband, father extraordinaire, and fascinating overall person passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in his home. His life consisted of 67 years full of unique memories, cherished moments with family, and absolute brilliance.
He was born in Birmingham, AL on September 6, 1954 and lived in Semmes, AL. Don had a full life. He spent his life dedicated to helping others and reviving marriages as a vocational rehabilitation and marriage counselor. This talented man wrote and played music in a way that rivaled any musician. In addition, he was an award winning poet. He accomplished all this while raising a family he was proud to call his own. He considered this his ultimate accomplishment!
He is survived by his wife, Carol Dockery; one son, Jack Dockery; two daughters, Ashley (husband Jasson) Swope and Sarah (husband David) Hernandez; four beloved grandchildren, Calista Swope, Elijah Swope, Ansley Swope, and Emma Hernandez; two brothers, David (wife Sandra) Dockery and Charles Dockery. Also, Mother-in-law Dorothy Hardegree; in-laws, Ellen (husband Glen) Wells, Joyce (husband Vince) Caine, and Tony (wife Tawnya) Johnson, along with many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 6 at Mobile Memorial Gardens with Brother Kevin Castleberry officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and the service to celebrate his life will follow
