Herbert Garrett

He passed away at his home, surrounded by his family. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Peggy Joan Garrett. He is also survived by his 3 daughters - Kathy Ann Garrett, Cynthia Darlene Havard, and Shirley Marie Webb, as well as 3 stepchildren - Norma Ann Fawcette, Sandra S. Waddill (Teddie G.), and Gregory L. Sistrunk. In addition , he is survived by 10 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and two sisters, Rowena Macias and Barbara Holsopple.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George Shirley Garrett and Marium Hortense Garrett, one brother Benny Garrett, two sisters Jeanine G. Kirk and Delores G. Harrison, one grandson, Kevin G. Wilkerson, Jr..

Pall bearers are Amy Murray, Stanley Murray, Stacia Sistrunk, Connor Smith, Chris Strickland, Jr., and Cody Strickland.

Honorary Pall Bearers are Tootie Rodriguez, Phil Rolls, and Tommy Williams.

The family would especially like to acknowledge and express thankfulness to the members of the Comfort Care Hospice (now known as Aveanna) team whose work enabled him to remain at home and be cared for by his family during the almost 3 years of his illness. We would like to give special thanks to Margaret Flowers for her loving care and attention to him, and to Hospice Chaplain Shawn Mizelle for his devoted visits and spiritual mentoring.

Visitation will be at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm funeral service. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
