Herman Johnston

Herman Mitchell Johnston 1925 - 2018 A native of Itta Bena, MS and resident of Prattville, AL died on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the age of 92. Mr. Johnston was a veteran of the United States Navy in WWII, having served two years in the Pacific Combat Zone as a Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class. He graduated in 1949 from the University of Mississippi with a degree in Accounting. He was also House Manager/Treasurer, Sigma Chi Fraternity. He began work with General Motors Acceptance Corporation in 1949, retiring in 1990. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Prattville AL and formerly a longtime member of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Mobile, AL. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sybil Parker Johnston. He is survived by his son, Dr. John P. Johnston (Sheryl), grandchildren, Dana Johnston Buckley (Joel), Ryan W. Johnson, Amy Leigh Johnston; great grandchildren, Ava, Madelyn, and Ella Buckley; brother, Rev. Lonnie B. Johnston (Pat); sister, Ann Johnston Brantley. Visitation will be held from Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:00 AM followed by graveside services and interment in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
