Hope Louise Gillinger Burton

April 15, 1926 – December 10, 2019

Hope Burton was called home to her Lord Jesus on December 10, 2019 at Allen Memorial Home. Hope was born April 15, 1926 in Danville, PA. Her parents were Brenton M. Gillinger and Mary Drumheiser Gillinger.

As a young girl her family moved to Philadelphia, PA. When she was just 12 years old, she met her future husband, Francis W. (Frank) Burton. They were married 4 years later on June 20, 1942 and were married for 61 years until his passing on August 14, 2003.

Hope and Frank started their family upon his return from WWII where he was in the Navy. They lived in Glenolden, Ridley Park and Collingdale, PA. A business venture moved the family to Del Norte and South Fork, CO in 1960. A year later they returned back East and moved to Winslow, ME where Frank worked for Scott Paper Co. Another transfer came in 1964 moving the family to Mobile, AL.

Each time the family moved, Hope made sure we found a new church home where her children would attend Sunday School, Bible School and Church. She loved Jesus Christ and studied the Bible daily. She was a member of Overlook Presbyterian Church for over 50 years.

Hope was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband Frank and an infant daughter Nancy. She is survived by her children, Larry Burton and wife Judy of Cotati, CA; Cheryl Burton Breland of Mobile, AL; Wayne Burton and wife Janet of Owensboro, KY; Bonnie McDonald and husband Carl of Semmes, AL.

She is survived by her grandchildren Paul Burton, Kristen Campanile, Jennifer Looney, Leslie Freitas, Bryan Bates, Christine Tart, Elizabeth Burton, and special grandson Brenton Burton.

She is also survived by her great grandchildren Joe Burton, McKenna Burton, Hannah Campanile, Kevin Campanile, Jeremy Dueitt, Danielle Kelly, Megan Freitas, Finley Bates, Reagan Bates, Chloe Tart and Andrew Tart, and on great great grandson Ryan Dueitt. She is also survived by her only sister Irma Zeigler of Churchville, MD.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 12 noon from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Saturday 10-12noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mobile memorial Gardens.

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Overlook Presbyterian Church, 5311 Overlook Rd, Mobile, AL 36618.
