Hubert Brackett

SFC Hubert (Herb) Brackett Retired, a native of Mobile, Alabama was born 20 August 1943. He exchanged life for eternity on 12 February 2017. He accepted Christ under the leadership of the late Reverend P.H. Lewis at Bethel A.M.E. Church in Mobile, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Brackett, Sr. and Queen Esther Brackett, a step-mother, Lucinda Brackett, a sister, Lucinda Washington, and two brothers, Steve and Chester Brackett. SFC Brackett served honorably in the United States Armed Forces, both the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. Decorations, medals, badges, commendations, citations, and campaign ribbons include: Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Outstanding United Award, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal (6th award) , Vietnam Service Medal (1-2), Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Robbins (3), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), Overseas Service Bars (1), Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, M-16 Rifle Expert Badge, Marksmanship Badge, M-16 Rifle, Armed Services Expeditionary Medal. On 10 October, 1970 He was united in holy matrimony at Bethel A.M.E. Church to Ruby Jones Brackett where the late P.H. Lewis officiated. A devoted, faithful, and loving wife he leaves to forever cherish his memories. A beautiful daughter Tritesse Tirza Brackett, Orlando, FL. His family members include 2 brothers, Frank Brackett Jr., and Eddie (Juanita) Brackett, Saraland, AL. 2 sisters, Nancy (Maurice) Dixon, Cleveland, OH, and Barbara Montgomery, Tampa, FL. 2 brothers-in-law, James Paul (Jasmine) Jones, and Claude (Charmaine) Jones, Mobile, AL. 5 sisters-in-law, Juanita Jones, Mobile, AL., Maggie (Larry) Hickson, St. Paul, MN., Rosalie Beard, Esther (Tommy) Taylor, Mobile, AL., and Michelle (Earl) Davis, Atlanta, GA. Devoted friends, Willie (Lisa) Wilson, Robert (Doris) Coleman, and Will Robinson, all of Mobile, AL. SGM Bennie (Edna) Hicks, Columbia, SC, MSG John (Pearle) Stancil, Hopkins, SC, SFC Joseph "Big Joe" McMichael, Columbia, SC., MSG Benjamin Bacote, Leesville, LA, SGM Dean Colame, MSG David Dubair, Hartford, CT. A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior to service. Full military honors will be rendered at the graveside at 12:30 PM from the Alabama State Veterans Cemetery in Spanish Fort. Condolences may be offered at www.mobilememorialfunerals.com.
